PHILOSOPHY & VALUES
At HIGHLINE, we adopt a person-centred approach that leans on evidenced-based practice, enforced with experience, to restore movement in the presence of injury or disease. We aim to create an environment where you feel safe, supported, and listened to by adhering to our core values:
EMPATHY – Living with pain can manifest itself in our lives in many ways. At Highline Physiotherapy you will be listened to and understood. Any interventions will be tailored to your needs and what’s important to you.
ACCOUNTABILITY – I will help you to organise and plan physiotherapy interventions around your life in a way that is sustainable. You will be guided through the process and brought back on track when the inevitable “bump-in-the-road” occurs.
ACCURACY – Attention to detail is at the core of Highline Physiotherapy. Appropriate assessment and treatment technology will be used to ensure change can be monitored and you are making the desired progress.
ENJOYMENT – Whether it’s returning to sport from a long-term injury or exploring how you can experience a healthy lifestyle through movement, I will aim to make the process an enjoyable experience where you feel empowered to be in control of your health and lifestyle.
Jack Carty - Connacht Rugby Player
Having got injured towards the tail end of the season with playoffs in sight, the timing couldn’t have been worse. However, from the time of injury where Colin explained clearly the mechanism of the injury, the recovery and the plan, it gave me clear milestones and an end point. His communication and openness to talk made many of my worries around the injury dissipate. Towards the end of the injury, it came to a crunch point where I was too worried around reinjury and much of my energy went towards being ‘safe’ and not pushing it, Colin gave me the rocket and explained the reality of the situation in only a way he could - I was back playing the following week. For those looking to get world class care to come back better than before, Highline Physiotherapy is the way to go.

Rory Sutherland - Prev. Edinburgh Rugby Player
In 2021, I was delighted to find out that I had been selected to play for the British and Irish lions. I unfortunately sustained a shoulder dislocation in the six nations in the lead up to the Lions tour to South Africa. The timeline for me to be able to make on the tour was extremely tight. I swiftly got back to my club, Edinburgh Rugby at the time, where I was managed by Colin. He made a plan for this tight timeline and we stuck to it over the course of the next 3 months. I worked with Colin over those months 5 out of the 7 days a week. Colin was vigorous, efficient and professional throughout the entire process and I enjoyed every minute working with him. I would highly recommend Colin to anyone.

Barry O’Brien - Connacht Rugby Athletic Performance Coach
I had the pleasure of working with Colin at Connacht Rugby as the Athletic Performance RTP coach. Colin and I shared a lot of time working collaboratively together during this time due to the overlapping nature of our roles. Aside from his extensive knowledge and experience of physiotherapy in a high-performance setting, the two things that really stood out to me with Colin were (1) his ability to turn the complex nature of an injury into an understandable, systemic and creative rehab journey and (2) his genuine care for the person he was treating. Colin isn’t afraid to think outside of the box and I’m a big believer it’s what sets him apart. Injuries can be very difficult times for individuals; challenging them not only physically but also mentally. Colin knows when to push and when to hold; when to be the task master and when to be a reassuring shoulder. I am privileged to recommend Highline Physiotherapy.

Luke Vella
Prev. Athletic Performance Coach, Edinburgh Rugby
I had the pleasure of working with Colin at Edinburgh Rugby. His knowledge and expertise around injury rehabilitation is outstanding. He has a complete understanding of the reconditioning pathway, with an ability to take athletes from point of injury right the way through to a return to high performance competition. More importantly he is a hardworking, loyal and trustworthy person and I would have zero hesitation in recommending Colin.

MY STORY
Hi, I’m Colin.
I’ll start with a bit about me. I was born and raised in Kinsale on the South-West coast of Ireland, and I’ve always had a passion for movement and sport.
I completed a BSc in Physiotherapy from Robert Gordon University in 2016 before going on to specialise in working with performance athletes. I completed an MSc in Sport and Exercise Physiotherapy from Cardiff University in 2023. Across the spectrum of healthcare, I have worked in the primary sector within the NHS, in private clinics and in high-performance sporting environments. I am also registered on the panel of High-Performance Sports Physiotherapists at Sport Ireland.
Within the realms of high-performance sport, I have worked in the following roles:
-
Senior Team Physiotherapist Connacht Rugby
-
Team Physiotherapist Edinburgh Rugby
-
Academy Physiotherapist Scottish Rugby Union
The decision to set up Highline Physiotherapy has brought me closer to another passion of mine. Surfing. So, when I’m not in the clinic you’ll find me in the water. Feel free to come and say hi.
